Its perfectly normal to have the blues after returning to work

You must realise that it is perfectly normal to feel a little down when you return to work after giving birth. This really is a big thing that you have been through but you don’t really need me to tell you that, do you?

Your hormones will still be up in the air and when you add to that the fact that you will probably not be getting a good nights sleep and this will probably the first time that you will be away from your baby, you can easily understand why you may be feeling a little emotional. In fact I think you should be worried if you are not feeling this way!

The main thing that you must remember is that you should not over do it. If you take to much on when you return to work in order to try and give the impression that you are still capable of doing your job you will soon experience feelings of stress and anxiety. You will no doubt still be entirely capable of doing your job and you don’t have to prove that fact to anybody, just be yourself and ease yourself back into your working roll gently.

"new mom blues"If you do start to feeling a little down in the dumps it always makes thing far worse if you think that there is something wrong with you, these television programs and glossy magazines always give the impression that once a baby is born everything is a bed of roses and you can enjoy life with your new bundle of fun without a worry in the world. If only it was all as simple as this, don’t get me wrong, having a baby will be the best thing that could ever happen to you, but please don’t think that having the blues when returning to work means that there is something wrong with you.

If you feel this way don’t keep it all to yourself. Talk it over with your family and also your boss, they will completely understand and you will probably be surprised to learn that many of them will have experienced exactly the same feelings themselves. Just make sure that you don’t over do it and that you have plenty of time with your new family, these early years will absolutely fly past so make sure that you make the most of them, and don’t work to hard!

Thanks for reading my blog post and I hope you enjoy our work from home moms blog.
